Flying Colors

Despite being configured and installed by me, the mill and auger seem to be up to the job at hand. (Pro-tip: it’s easier to set the gap on a mill that’s spinning in the right direction.) One concern was that owing to the tight space there’s a bit of the auger run that’s nearly vertical- this can cause problems getting the last bit of grist to travel all the way to the outlet. Thus the test summarized in the video: mill one bag, send it through to the mash tun, catch it in another bag, and weigh it.

Losses were minimal, good news! We’re getting very close to our first brew day….
