Pull the string, win a prize

Remember that carnival game? Choose a string end, and get the crappy prize it’s tied to. This is kind of like that:

Oooh, I wonder what I’ll ‘win’
Foam board, visqueen, drywall, and a metric fuckton of dust. Whee.

We are slowly getting to the end of major demolition, as I take down the ceiling in what was the approximately 2000 sq. ft. of freezer space. (I’m actually working on posting a montage of images of incremental destruction.) After this last section of ceiling, it’s really just ‘mop up’ work, and then the first floor will be ready to turn over to the pros. It’s gone pretty slowly by necessity; when you’re working mostly alone, things have to be accomplished safely, gradually, and methodically. Slow as I’m going, we’re still plenty ahead of the plans and contractor. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m dying to see what’s above the last section- I could really use a desiccated pigeon.

A prize in every section of ceiling! Better than a box of Cracker Jacks.
Glad to see the deconstruction coming to an end so that construction can begin!

So far, the largest surprise has been a window air conditioner.
